one final point is that i Haven't seen my sculpture in the dark with the newly painted lighter floor, which could effect it.

lighting
i Have 4 halogen spot lights that were left in my space after last years show that i am planning to use. i will probably use one to highlight the single triangular piece in the corner, and the others on to the two others in the bigger space. i haven't decided whether i like the shadows created by having the spotlights turned up quite high and pointing directly at the pieces so i might place the just above the pieces on quite a low setting so there is just a gentle glow coming form the whites string, i also have to consider i have a dark space next to mine, although she is using light boxs that put out a small warm glow which would be quite nice to mimic.

my space for final show,
the second part of my space opposite the one above, i have to consider the problems of not being able to paint the socket and the cable trunking.
i decided to paint the space black, at first i was only going to paint the walls, nut in the end i decided to paint the ceiling as well, i did consider painting the floor black as well but decided against it. as i felt people would walk on it and the black paint marks very easily and clean line and surfaces are key to my work.

final show ideas
for my final show i have a few ideas one being a large steel wire installation, maybe in the main foyer of the college suspended above the main walk way, or in one of the downstairs studio spaces, although this would involve fixing to the wall and iam unaware if i would be allowed to. Another idea would be to make a series of small sculptures out of some of my designs and sketches like the one below.

my progress so
I originally started this project focusing on shape, form and negative space and studied this idea by researching in to artists like Naum Gabo, Barbara Hepworth, Sol Lewitt and Alberto Giacometti. I have since realised since looking at there work and the way in which my work has progressed that what i am interested about there work is more to do with light and shadow especially on Barbara Hepworths pieces, i want to look deeper into light and shadow and will look at the work of the minimalists and more specifically Robert Morris and Donald Judd.
I am going to keep experimenting with shapes and form but i am increasingly using string and wire to create shading in a 3D form and plan to develop this further, i also intend to use mirrors in my work at some stage although i haven't decided whether to incorporate them in to the shapes or use them in the area around them.
